CORE Paralegals is a leading provider of independent paralegal services for lawyers and law firms across British Columbia. We are female founded and fully remote, providing comprehensive corporate and real estate services, as well as internal operations support to empower the modernization of internal paralegal departments.
ABOUT YOU
You have a solid background in BC corporate law and supporting corporate transactions of all sizes. You consider yourself to be entrepreneurial, love optimizing tasks with technology, and are inherently wired for efficient paralegal work.
Ideally you also have experience working in a startup and/or working as a temp in multiple law firms giving you the ability to skillfully navigate different systems and workflows. Experience building procedures within a growing paralegal department would be an asset.
You've found you perform best in remote work environments, and hold yourself accountable for your own performance outcomes while naturally extending support to your team around you. You also recognize that excellent client service is the foundation of any service business. You know how to communicate with busy lawyers, can translate legal information and next steps into concise communications, and hold yourself fully accountable for the matters you are working on.
GENERAL DUTIES
As one of corporate paralegals, you will work with our lawyer clients and manage corporate files from start to finish. Because our firm is growing, you will also be expected to play a supporting role in building out our internal systems and processes, and generally providing input into the strategic directions of our organization.
In general, we're looking for you to own the following duties:
Project manage corporate files from start to finish
Draft corporate records and other legal documents for BC and federal entities
Provide deal support to lawyers on complex transactions (share/asset purchases, reorgs, etc.)
Conduct due diligence on corporate entities
Liaise with lawyers, clients, lenders, accountants and other parties involved in files
Create and maintain corporate record books, including rectifying deficiencies
Prepare corporate annual maintenance for BC, federal, and some extra-provincial entities
Other paralegal or internal support as required from time to time
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
If you are an experienced corporate paralegal with a strong work ethic, we'd love to hear from you. With that said, we are ideally looking for someone with the following experience:
5+ years of experience in British Columbia corporate law
Experience working on M&A transactions
Demonstrated digital proficiency and adaptability across various software systems
Familiarity with the British Columbia Business Corporations Act, BC Societies Actand federal corporate procedures is an asset
Paralegal certificate is an asset but is not required
COMPENSATION
The pay rate for this position has been budgeted between $31.25/hr and $43.27/hr (about the equivalent of $65,000 to $90,000 in salary). We also offer an annual discretionary bonus in accordance with our bonus policy, paid time off, standard health benefits, and cell phone plan reimbursement up to a defined amount.
