About Our Opportunity

The Corporate Information Management Architect (Computer Services Officer 4) within NSDS sets information management (IM) direction by developing and delivering corporate strategies and policies and delivering projects and services that support our clients across government in how they analyze, use, share, manage, and innovate with their information and data.

This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in working in the field of information management.

As the Corporate Information Management Architect, you play a strategic role in the implementation of an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Strategy for the Province of Nova Scotia in support of digital government, leading projects and initiatives that optimize the value of government's information and data and provide value to government, businesses, and the citizens of Nova Scotia. You serve as a subject matter expert and play a key role in supporting, promoting, and sharing the importance of managing information and data.

As a Corporate Information Management Architect, you are a member of a multi-disciplinary team and participate in or lead the ongoing development of the Corporate Information Management Program and its services and help ensure they meet client expectations. In this position you are supported by the Manager of Information Management.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Corporate Information Management Architect, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and support for the management of Government's information and data assets through the development of corporate IM strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Advise client departments on IM matters and communicate and promote the goals and benefits of IM to our clients and its potential to improve program and service delivery.
  • Lead large corporate IM projects and initiatives that optimize the value of government's information and data and provide value to government, businesses, and the citizens of Nova Scotia.
  • Develop business cases, requests for purchases, statements of work, and submissions for new information and data services.
  • Create and deliver informative, accessible, and engaging IM presentations, training, and support materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops and serve on strategic IM-related committees.
  • Stay on top of emerging and innovative trends in IM and undertake research on a broad range of IM topics.
Qualifications & Experience

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelors degree in a specialization applicable to the information management discipline or other relevant degree (such as library and information sciences, informatics, public administration, or business administration) and a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience. An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Considerable initiative is required to manage, control, and facilitate the completion of projects in this role. You will find this work meaningful if you are a self-starter who can operate independently at a high level with general direction only and be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing priorities.

Your resume clearly demonstrates the following:
  • Proven ability to develop and implement policy focused on the use and management of government's information and data to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ability to develop strategies that support the value of information and data as corporate assets that contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of government.
  • Excellent research skills, with an ability to synthesize and summarize complex information using a professional writing style.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to work with, win, and maintain the respect and confidence of colleagues and clients at all levels within government as well as with external stakeholders and provide information services with a customer-centric focus.
  • A broad base of information management knowledge including data management and analytics.
  • High degree of problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Superb communication (both oral and written), organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • An understanding of the role of policy and legislation compliance and how it contributes to improved governance and accountability.
  • Training and experience in project management.
  • Working knowledge of metrics, measurement, evaluation, and marketing, and an ability to apply them.
  • A good understanding of current technologies and client-centric service delivery.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in software packages such as Microsoft Office, including SharePoint and Teams.
  • Experience with and expertise in specialized areas of IM.
