We are looking for a regular full-time Corporate Energy Manager to join the District\xe2\x80\x99s new Climate and Biodiversity Team. Reporting to the Director \xe2\x80\x93 Climate Action, Natural Systems, and Biodiversity, you will lead the District\xe2\x80\x99s energy management program, accelerating the District\xe2\x80\x99s transition to low carbon, climate resilient operations. The Corporate Energy Manager will identify and make recommendations on innovative projects and strategies for fuel switching, reducing energy use and embodied carbon, and increasing climate resilience in District operations and procurement towards achieving the District\xe2\x80\x99s energy and emissions reduction targets. You will ensure integration of low carbon design approaches and mechanical equipment into new buildings and major upgrades and advance decarbonization strategies for existing assets. You will work closely with key internal business units to develop policies, support operational changes, identify projects, prepare business cases, and advance project implementation. You will research, secure and manage senior government and utility funding, select and supervise consultants, and monitor, measure and report out on outcomes. This position serves as the BC Hydro Corporate Energy Manager and will be responsible for developing and managing the implementation of the District\xe2\x80\x99s Strategic Energy Management Plan and completing the District\xe2\x80\x99s annual corporate climate action reporting. You will also provide strategic and technical advice and make recommendations to Council and senior staff. Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts. You will have a demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of projects working with stakeholders to resolve competing objectives. Strong research and analytical abilities are required along with superb oral and written communications skills. As a qualified candidate, you have a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mechanical engineering, resource management, or a related field along with a minimum of 7 years of experience including business case development, financial analysis, and managing complex projects and teams. Knowledge of design and construction practices in energy and carbon management is required along with comprehensive knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems. You will have one of the following qualifications: professional engineer (P.Eng.), certified energy manager (CEM), BCIT SEMAC (Sustainable Energy Management Associate), UBC Masters in Clean Energy, or a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business, planning, sustainability, or related field. Additional accreditation or training is desirable such as LEED accreditation or Passive House standard. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid BC Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence is required.
