Corporate Communications Specialist

Etobicoke, ON, Canada

Job Description

Description :
About this opportunity
At Meridian, we're committed to helping our Members grow and thrive--and we do that by telling our story in ways that inspire confidence and build trust. We're looking for a high-energy, self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment and can confidently work independently with minimal guidance to move projects forward and meet tight deadlines.
This role is perfect for someone who brings agency experience--a background that fosters agility, creativity, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure. You'll lead executive thought leadership content development for LinkedIn and manage social strategies through Sprout Social, while providing daily communications counsel to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
We also need someone with a strong understanding of AI and AI-enabled tools, who knows how to leverage AI to optimize productivity responsibly--balancing innovation with awareness of risks and limitations.
What You'll Do
Develop Executive Thought Leadership:

  • Create compelling content strategies for Meridian's executives on LinkedIn, positioning them as industry thought leaders and amplifying our brand voice.
  • Create PR campaigns, liaise with agency, work with business, develop and maintain ongoing always-on calendar of opportunities, and look for new awareness opportunities.
  • Lead speaking engagements and stakeholder outreach to amplify external communications campaigns, manage reputation and coordinate issue responses, while overseeing the awards calendar and supporting application submissions.
Drive Projects:
  • Own communications initiatives end-to-end--planning, execution, and delivery--while meeting deadlines in a dynamic, demanding environment.
Provide Strategic Counsel:
  • Engage daily with executives and team leads, offering proactive communications advice and ensuring alignment with Meridian's strategic priorities.
Shape Media & Social Presence:
  • Monitor trends, identify opportunities, and craft strategies that increase visibility across media and social channels. Manage media interactions and develop briefing materials for executive spokespeople.
  • Create and publish a variety of content assets, including infographics, social media posts, videos, web articles, and news releases.
  • Develop content and assets, including light graphic design work to support infographics, social posts, videos, and other communications materials.
Leverage AI Responsibly:
  • Use AI-enabled tools to streamline workflows and enhance productivity, while applying sound judgment to mitigate risks and ensure ethical, responsible use.
Collaborate Across the Organization:
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders--including Brand, Marketing, Government Relations, Retail, Business Banking, Wealth, and ESG/Social Impact--in a highly matrixed environment to support external communications initiatives and inform internal communications channels and programs as required.
Measure Impact:
  • Track media and social coverage to identify trends, analyze performance metrics, and provide insights that inform future strategies.
What You Bring
  • Agency experience highly preferred--you know how to thrive under pressure and deliver exceptional results.
  • Proven ability to work independently and confidently in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Expertise in executive thought leadership content development across many channels: website, social, and media.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage daily with executives and provide strategic communications advice.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a knack for crafting clear, impactful messaging.
  • Strong understanding of AI and AI-enabled tools, including how to leverage them for productivity while managing risks responsibly.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring and social analytics/employee digital advocacy tools (Cision, Sprout Social, Meltwater, Talkwalker).
  • Bonus: Knowledge of financial services and SEO best practices.
Why Meridian?
  • A collaborative, inclusive environment that values creativity and innovation.
  • Hybrid work model with purposeful in-office collaboration.
  • Opportunities to work with industry leaders and make a real impact.
  • A culture that celebrates success and invests in your growth.
