About the Opportunity The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will be accountable for ensuring that our organization adheres to all regulatory statutes as well as any internal best practice guidelines. Responsibilities & what you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:
  • Able to advice on complex matters, develop solutions to mitigate risk, and provide recommendations as and when appropriate.
  • Follow up with internal teams to ensure all processes and procedures are in alignment to company standards.
  • Managing corporate records, including maintenance of minute books and the corporate entity database
  • Drafting and/or reviewing legal documents
  • Assisting with implementation of policies, processes and standards, and documenting related compliance process maps
  • Coordinate and track Provincial licensing requirements to ensure compliance with regulators and internal policies and procedures;
  • Communicate documentation requirements with Underwriters and ensure appropriate follow-up;
  • Arrange sponsorship and provide any other documents required for the individuals licensing application.
  • Complete and file corporate license applications and submit to the applicable Province;
  • Maintain and update broker database.
  • Maintain system for tracking deadlines and ensure deadlines are met for reporting requirements to insurance companies;
  • Participate and assist in insurance audits;
  • Maintain an up-to-date filing system and ensure correspondence and documentation is filed in a timely and reliable manner;
  • Assist in the oversight of the Regulatory Compliance Management framework, which includes coordinating periodic reviews, assessments and testing of the compliance controls throughout the company;
  • Assist with sanctions checks, privacy incidents and conflicts of interest;
  • Maintain, update and communicate internal compliance policies, standards and guidelines;
  • Provide support to Compliance Officer for communication and other departmental needs;
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated individual and collaborator who is client focused, proactive in dealing with situations and uses critical judgment to make decisions and offer solutions. The person will also demonstrate the following:
  • Post-Secondary diploma or certificate in Business with 1 \xe2\x80\x93 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as an Corporate Clerk or in a similar position;
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in the insurance or financial industry, preferably in Compliance, Legal, Risk Management or Internal Audit;
  • Paralegal or law clerk an asset
  • Ability to understand laws and regulations applicable to the P&C insurance industry would be an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and basic knowledge of Adobe PDF;
  • Organized, detailed oriented and accurate;
  • Action oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and multi-task;
  • Aptitude to seek information, problem solve and exhibit sound judgment;
  • Superior verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong written skills with the ability to draft policies, manuals and training materials
  • Possess the highest degree of integrity;
  • Service focused and willing to learn new skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a professional and friendly manner;
  • Autonomous and comfortable working with minimal supervision
