Role Overview: Reporting to the Senior Core Technicians, Lynn Lake, the Core Cutter will be responsible for cutting diamond drill core, and bagging and tagging drill core samples. You will collaborate with the Senior Core Technicians on site during each rotation to prioritize tasks. You will be based in Lynn Lake, Manitoba and will work a Monday to Friday 8 hour/day schedule. This is a temporary contract starting February 5th, 2024 with an expected duration of approximately 6 months.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Cutting diamond drill core with core saws.
- Ensure sample tags match the correct drill hole and meter marks in the core boxes.
- Prepare sample bags for cut core samples.
- Ensure correct samples and tags are placed in each sample bag.
- Bag and prepare samples to be sent to the laboratory.
- Lift and handle drill core boxes (23 kg).
- Inform the geology team of any problems in the sawing procedures.
- General maintenance of rock saws and core shack including cleaning saws.
- Other duties around the core shack as required.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and dependable.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and community.
- Able to stand while working for long periods, and able to lift and carry core boxes and bags of samples (up to 23 kg).
- Able to work in a diverse team environment.
- Previous work experience in the exploration/mining industry is an asset.
- Able to get yourself to and from the coreshack in Lynn Lake as scheduled.
