LogisticsJob Title:Coordinator, SafetyCompany, Department:Health & SafetyLocation:Halifax, NSType of Employment:Regular, Full Time - HybridClosing Date:May 31, 2024Reference Number:2024-3014The OpportunityWe are looking for a Coordinator, Safety to join our NS Power Safety Team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Contractor Safety Lead, this position will support the team in a dynamic environment. The ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines are of prime importance in this position.This role requires an individual with a strong technical acumen in the field of Health & Safety, as well as an ability to work with the Health & Safety team and the broader organization to align priorities and plans with key business objectives. In this role, you must excel at driving change with strong project coordination or project management experience, as well as a phenomenal stakeholder and documentation management skills.Key elements of this role include:

  • Assist with data review and analysis on various safety reporting metrics
  • Assist with various reports and presentations to leadership
  • Assist with the activities associated with work plan deliverables, including but not limited to, safety performance initiatives and audit program deliverables
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Cority platform
  • Assist with the Contractor Safety Program, assist contract mangers & site representatives to educate contractors on their responsibilities to adhere to the Contractor Safety Program
  • Be a champion of the ISNetworld platform
  • Champion the SharePoint sites for the team, maintaining and updating electronic document storage as required
  • Accountable to design and maintain H&S sites to support communication / access to important information and maintain information on the Grid
  • Champion the Safety Program Online Tracking tool
  • Safety team liaison for current updating/managing revisions to access for systems. Distribution lists, Incident Database etc., any system that the safety department is responsible to own
  • Work on strategic projects as part of project team to deliver on system and program enhancements as outlined in workplans for health & safety team
  • Support the revision of documents supporting implementation of the Safety Management System and Health programs \xe2\x80\x93 policies, procedures, forms, work instructions and manuals
  • Work with H&S team to draft and roll out regular health and safety communications to drive health and safety performance and culture across the organization
  • Support the development of digital information platforms, including development workshops
  • Support health & safety and storm activities in field and/or office as needed
  • The position will be required to adhere to basic personal protective equipment requirements of Nova Scotia Power and the Affiliate companies when conducting observational activities but will not be engaged in any operational work activities

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s/ college degree in a related field (A combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • 1-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a Health and Safety environment
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Outlook is essential
  • CRSP or eligible to pursue CRSP is considered an asset
  • Experience working with SharePoint is preferred
  • Experience with various software packages, including Oracle, and PeopleSoft would be considered an asset
  • Highly professional, detail-oriented individual with polished communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to personal development
  • Extremely organized with a strong ability to multi-task, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability be inquisitive while building trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks effectively, prioritize requests, and adapt well to change
  • You bring a collaborative problem-solving approach with the ability to work individually and as part of a team
