The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a permanent full-time Coordinator, Recruitment and Retention (Long-Term Care) in the Human Resources and Organizational Development Division.Job descriptionThe Coordinator, Recruitment and Retention, is tasked with the recruitment and retention of employees at Riverview Gardens. This includes marketing and promoting Riverview Gardens to attract talent. The Coordinator will oversee activities and programs that aim to promote a strong team of health care workers.Essential responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Chatham-Kent\'s core values and competencies
  • Serve as a Municipal contact for matters related to employee attraction and retention in long-term care, including with colleges universities and employment agencies.
  • Act as the primary hiring support for many of the positions at Riverview Gardens.
  • Provide support for newly hired staff.
  • Develop, implement and maintain retention strategies including mentorship programs, employee wellness, and leadership opportunities.
  • Cultivate and sustain community partnerships with education facilities and committees involved with attraction of employees to health care.
  • Lead research and analysis on issues related to Long Term Care employment attraction and retention
  • Develop and refine content for job postings website
  • Promote Riverview Gardens and Chatham-Kent as a location of choice for health care employees through the use of focused marketing, advertising and promotional activity
  • Administer social media channels, with responsibility for working with section colleagues to develop and monitor content
  • Research, identify and apply for funding opportunities and grants
  • Prepare reports for municipal, provincial and federal government and other organizations as required
  • Collaborate with municipal colleagues and community stakeholders for the ongoing development, implementation, and refinement of recruitment to the health care sector
  • Serve as a diversity, equity, inclusion and justice champion at Riverview Gardens
  • Other duties as assigned
Essential qualifications
  • Completion of a 3 year diploma or university degree (preferably in business, marketing, communications or social sciences, human resources, health care) with four (4) to (6) years of related experience
  • Leadership experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Experience tracking/reporting on expenditures
  • Experience in recruitment and retention, including strategic development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience and success in research, surveying, analysis and benchmarking
  • Proficient in online engagement using web and social media
  • Working knowledge of the following software programs: Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems and Human Resources Information Systems
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet (or other similar software programs)
Other qualifications
  • Experience working in Long-Term Care or other Health Care sector an asset
  • Experience writing successful government grant proposals an asset
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
Work environment/hours of work
  • This position works mostly indoors
  • This position works weekday hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours, and on call after hours and on weekends, in a 24/7 facility.
Working Remotely (Hybrid)This position has been approved for remote working, at the discretion of the supervisor based on the Working Remotely Policy.This position may be required to attend on-site meetings in order to complete essential responsibilities of the role. As per the Working Remotely Policy, employees scheduled to work remotely on a certain day may occasionally be called to a municipal onsite work location on short notice. Employees must remain flexible to accommodate municipal requirements and be prepared to be called in on short notice.COVID-19 VaccinationThe Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged.Driver\'s licence/vehicle requirementsBecause this position may be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver\'s licence with a motor vehicle is preferred.Background check requirementsThis position works with vulnerable residents in a position of trust and authority, on a sustained and regular basis, in a largely unsupervised capacity. A Vulnerable Sector Screen is required (Long-Term Care Homes Act section 215 O. Reg. 79/10) prior to being accepted for employment. You must be 18 years of age or older to obtain a vulnerable police check.All staff members shall promptly provide the employer with a signed declaration disclosing new charges, convictions, orders and restraining orders, consistent with Ontario Regulation section 253 O. Reg 246/22 made under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, with respect to the period since the date the person\'s last criminal reference check under subsection (2) was conducted.Essential physical and/or safety requirements
  • Sitting: constant sitting in a chair (primarily a desk/office based position)
  • Hands: constant fine finger dexterity (movement), gripping, pinching, mousing (operating a computer, mouse and cell phone)
