The College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island (CRNMPEI) is the regulatory body for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses and midwives in the province. Since 1922, CRNMPEI has been granted the authority through legislation to regulate the professions in the public interest.The Coordinator of Conduct and Quality Assurance will assist CRNMPEI in achieving its vision: Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Practice: To ensure the public can expect safe, high-quality nursing and midwifery practice.
The Coordinator of Conduct and Quality Assurance will play an integral role in the discipline process. The discipline process is a key component of CRNMPEI's legislative mandate to protect the public. In the regulatory field, where compliance, quality improvement, examination, discipline, and continuing competence are key issues; defensible procedures are vital to quality assurance measures. Roles and Responsibilities
The Coordinator of Conduct and Quality Assurance will:
Assist the Registrar in the establishment of a "Fitness to Practice/Alternative to
Discipline" process.
Complete Quality Assurance Audits
Develop policies and procedures related to discipline and quality assurance
Educate registrants and volunteers about the discipline process and requirements under the RHPA.
Orientate new volunteers to Discipline Committees
Maintain a list of all volunteers for the Committees
Organize Discipline Committees and seek appointment of Committee Members from Council.
Schedule Committee meetings
Maintain decision templates to support the work of the committees
Monitor and track the progress of complaints and report on complaint metrics
Identify trends in complaints to the College
Identify trends on a pan-Canadian level and compare those annually to complaints to CRNMPEI.
Ensure that registrants meet any remedial or monitoring requirements following a committee decision.
Track any fines or costs owing to CRNMPEI
Maintain confidentiality
Other:
Participate in established performance evaluation process and professional development goals
Attend relevant conferences, workshops and other in-service events as approved.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Master's degree in nursing or Midwifery and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Experience working with health agencies in Prince Edward Island
Experience writing reports and managing data
Knowledge of right touch regulation and/or person-centered regulation
Understand of the role of a regulatory body
Understand current legislation that governs the practice of nursing and midwifery in PEI
Demonstrate skills in assessment, program planning, implementation and evaluation
Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
Flexible and able to adapt to change
Excellent command of information technology
Perform other related duties as assigned by the CEO
Previous work experience in regulation would be an asset
