Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario ("the AGO") is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to approximately 1 million visitors annually.

We are currently seeking a Regular Full-Time, Coordinator, Major Gifts to join our Development team. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Philanthropy, the incumbent will support Major Gifts and related activity at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Activity in this portfolio includes: drafting and preparing correspondence, liaising with Donor Relations to ensure recognition and benefits are accurate and aligned with letters of agreement, coordinating stewardship activities, coordinating Raiser's Edge Action Tracks with Development Operations, making Raiser's Edge updates, and tracking expenses. The Coordinator must liaise effectively with internal AGO departments, volunteers and donors on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
  • 2 years of directly related experience in a Development environment with a focus on major gift fundraising practices.
  • Experience working with major donors and senior volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating individual giving activities within a fundraising team.
  • Directly related experience drafting donor correspondence.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed administrative, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and public relations skills to interface with major donors, senior volunteers and AGO staff.
  • Operates with a high-degree of professionalism and discretion.
  • Demonstrated experience in applicable computer programs, donor databases and social media platforms such as Raiser's Edge, MailChimp, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Power Point.
  • Knowledge of the visual arts an asset.
