First Steps Family Resource Centre is seeking applications for our Coordinator position. First Steps Family Resource Centre is a non-profit organization, funded by the Provincial Government and overseen by a Board of Directors. The mandate of First Steps is to support families in the healthy development of children (ages pre-natal to six years) through play, programming, education, and networking.

The successful candidate must have an understanding of child development, child health and safety, positive parenting practices and family dynamics. The candidate will be required to supervise other staff and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Working experience with children pre-natal to 6 years would be considered an asset. The candidate must also be comfortable with working in partnership with other organizations within the community and be able to plan events and activities as needed.

The candidate will be highly motivated and skills in the areas of management, leadership, written and interpersonal communication and computer knowledge (particularly MS Office, e-mail, and internet research) would be beneficial.

A Certificate of Conduct and completion of First Aid and CPR will be required by the successful applicant. The position will also require the candidate to have access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license, as well as the ability to work flexible hours and be willing to travel if needed.

Qualifications:
Post-Secondary certification in the fields of Community Capacity Building and Development, a degree in any Social Science Discipline, Early Childhood Education (preference will be given to Level II candidates), or a combination of related education and experience.

Excellent skills with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher.

Knowledge of basic financial practices and budgeting is considered to be an asset.
