About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.



Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.



Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

We have an exciting opportunity for an

Coordinator, Industrial Hygiene

to join our

Mount Milligan Mine (MTM)

operations site.



This role operates on a rotation of

14 days on / 14 days off

at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.



The Coordinator, Industrial Hygiene is a key member of the Safety & Health team, responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and management of the site's industrial hygiene program. This role ensures the proactive identification, evaluation, and control of occupational health hazards within the operation. The coordinator serves as a technical expert and internal consultant, collaborating with all departments to foster a culture of health, safety, and regulatory compliance.



Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Industrial Hygiene Program:




Design, implement, and maintain the site-wide industrial hygiene program. Develop and adhere to a comprehensive exposure monitoring schedule for chemical, physical, and biological agents.

Risk Assessment and Control:




Conduct and document detailed exposure assessments and risk analyses to identify potential hazards such as dust, noise, vibration, and chemical exposure. Recommend and oversee the implementation of engineering and administrative controls to mitigate identified risks.

Monitoring and Data Management:




Lead all aspects of field monitoring and sampling, including the use of specialized instrumentation. Collect, analyze, and interpret monitoring data to ensure the work environment is compliant with both internal and external standards.

Compliance and Reporting:




Ensure all industrial hygiene practices and programs are in full compliance with relevant provincial and federal regulations. Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports on monitoring results, exposure assessments, and program effectiveness to management and regulatory bodies.

Training and Communication:




Develop and deliver targeted training sessions to employees and supervisors on topics such as hazard recognition, exposure controls, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Act as a primary resource for employees and management on industrial hygiene inquiries.

Incident Investigation:




Participate in investigations of occupational health incidents, near misses, and employee health complaints to determine root causes and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:




Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other departments to integrate industrial hygiene principles into daily work practices and support continuous improvement initiatives

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:


Education: A degree or diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Certification: Professional certification such as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is highly preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in industrial hygiene, with a preference for experience within a mining or heavy industrial environment. Proven ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data. Strong technical knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, best practices, and a comprehensive understanding of relevant occupational health and safety regulations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and train at all levels of the organization. Ability to work in an open-pit mine environment, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and dust. Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license. Fundamental knowledge on basic descriptive statistics and measures of data quality. General knowledge of basic science, equipment, and processes to assist in analyzing information and drawing conclusions Strong document control practices to create, maintain, and archive inspection records, certificates of analysis, calibration certificates. Etc. Ability to perform sampling and analysis for all exposures of interest to Mount Milligan Ability to teach, direct, and supervise sampling performed by Safety team members or contract hygiene technicians. Able to accept and provide quality feedback of performance and behavior Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking, interpersonally, and with diverse audiences/people. Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

Working Conditions

Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 14x14, 12 hours per day Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO - TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie
