Coordinator, Faculty Negotiations

Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, Faculty Relations, the Coordinator, Faculty Negotiations is responsible for coordinating the activities of the University negotiating team for the collective bargaining process. The incumbent coordinates research projects, assists in the development of draft bargaining language and preparation of documents, creates reports and meeting notes, and monitors the progress of all negotiating team tasks, action plans and activities. The Coordinator ensures that all required information relating to the negotiations is recorded, compiled, and catalogued. The Coordinator prepares research and reports for consideration by the Chief Negotiator and the negotiating team. The incumbent provides day-to-day administrative duties to support the negotiating team including providing operational support for the planning, administration, and communication of negotiations; implements plans; coordinates and schedules logistics, meetings, and on-site administration; compiles, prepares and distributes materials; and maintains an online workspace.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree and four years of related experience including experience in project coordination, planning, research and communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Good knowledge of labour and employment legislation and government policies
  • Ability to interpret and apply collective agreements and University policies
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into reports and communications
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation) and the ability to draft internal and external communications
  • Excellent planning, coordination and office administrative skills
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases and online technology applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access)
  • Ability to work independently, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and to exercise initiative, diplomacy and discretionary judgment
