Our Building & Material Sciences team is second to none in the industry, recognized as a leader in applied building science and facade systems. We operate at the intersection of design, engineering, fabrication, and construction, giving you rare exposure to how advanced facade and envelope systems integrate with every other scope and moving part on a major project.


You as a Coordinator, Concrete Materials will:




Pursuits + Perform early project feasibility studies to help clients make informed decisions on conceptual design development.
+ Aid estimating and project pursuit teams by providing specific technical knowledge in the areas of constructability, logistics, structural efficiency, concrete supplier evaluations, and concrete materials.
+ Review structural drawings and specified concrete mix designs to ensure proper coordination with design and local codes and standards. Also, help identify any risks and opportunities and work with the operational team to mitigate/capitalize respectively.
Pre-construction + Collaborate with the project team (clients, architects, engineers, construction teams) to iterate on design concepts at an early stage + Support the team's efforts and work to provide practical guidance to optimize designs for various client goals - cost, schedule, functionality, etc.
+ Support concrete procurement stage in evaluating cost and technical performance of the concrete mixes as they relate to the project goals (budget, schedule, carbon, durability, performance, etc).
Operations + Provide specific technical support to project teams in the areas of constructability and concrete related scope. This includes concrete mix design optimizations and performance analysis through construction. + Conduct site reviews and produce technical reports that summarize potential construction or performance issues and outline detailed solutions.
+ Work alongside and regularly communicate with owners, architects, contractors and engineers
+ Review mass concrete placements, create thermal models and thermal control plans, working closely with project teams to understand the specific project requirements and available materials.
+ Work with project teams to develop specialty pour planning and logistics - this may include mass concrete, cooling requirements or hot weather placements.
R&D, Intellectual Capital and Forensics + Take an active role in ongoing research and development for a variety of concrete related areas, such as low carbon concrete, new concrete technologies and construction process related to concrete performance + Assist in the dissemination of knowledge across the company through workshops, webinars, technical bulletins and lessons learned.
+ Conduct forensic investigations of non-compliant work, perform root cause analysis and provide detailed solution direction.

Is this the right role for you?




You have an Engineering Degree or Diploma. Experienced in the construction industry focused on concrete materials and construction. Passionate, detail oriented, intrinsically motivated and self-directed. Experience with conceptual design software, such as B4 Cast, and SketchUp, is an asset. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective research skills. Flexible team player who prospers in a fast-paced work environment. Able to absorb and utilize new construction and engineering concepts quickly.
