This is specialized volunteer program coordination in delivering a variety of city-wide volunteer based programs to support citizen\xe2\x80\x99s health promotion, health prevention and independent living in the community. An incumbent will plan, direct and implement a variety of volunteer programs; schedules and coordinates recreational bus trips, accompanies and ensures for the care and well-being of clients. Recruits volunteers for various community programs offered through Citizen\xe2\x80\x99s Support; interviews candidates, conducts police information checks and selects volunteers; places volunteers in programs; prepares descriptions of the work and provides volunteers with the expectations of the job. Conducts volunteer orientation sessions; provides individual training and reviews the performance of volunteers. A Coordinator will maintain liaison with internal and external contacts; provides lay counselling or referral services to program participants and provides support in directing program participants to a variety of community and public health resources. Prepares a variety of files, records and reports related to the work. Performs related work as required. Qualifications include graduation from a Certificate Program in Volunteer Management from a recognized Community College supplemented by commercial courses and sound related experience; courses in gerontology are desirable; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the work. Sound knowledge of community resources as related to the needs, interests and requirements of senior and disabled citizens in Burnaby; the methods and practices in the recruiting and utilization of volunteers. Working knowledge of basic first-aid practices and procedures. Ability to plan, direct and implement specific volunteer programs for senior and disabled citizens; to interview clients and volunteers and to select and match volunteers with clients. A valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence for the Province of British Columbia, St. John\'s First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate are required. Please apply online by April 11, 2023.
