JOB OVERVIEW: COORDINATOR, COMMUNICATIONS & EVENTS

Reporting to the Divisional Business Manager, Faculty of Arts, this position is responsible for the providing leadership, support and direction for recruiting, marketing and promotional functions for the Faculty of Arts. The Coordinator, Communications and Events liaises with university administration, faculty, staff, community partners, alumni, alumni sponsors and external agencies for the coordination of a variety of Faculty/University events. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a marketing and communications plan for the Faculty, working closely with the leadership team and faculty as well as with Marketing, Communications and Future Students Office to develop strategies that optimize student recruitment and retention across the Faculty and profile various Arts programs. He/she provides marketing and advertising expertise for the provision of revenue generating activities and Arts Continuing & Professional Studies initiatives. The Coordinator also supervises student and auxiliary workers as well as volunteers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design for Marketing, Business, or Communications plus three years directly related experience in marketing and communications.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Demonstrated experience with planning and coordinating events in an institutional or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals at all levels internally as well as with external stakeholders in the communities.
  • Experience with using social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, (and others) as well as Wikis and blogs
  • Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills for different types of media (print and electronic) with an eye for detail, design, content, and brand.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communications skills and ability to develop positive public relations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in web and graphic design and using publishing software including Photoshop, Word, Adobe Creative Suite CS5, Microsoft Office and Acrobat.
  • Strong knowledge and proven experience working and managing content management platforms (CMS) systems, website design software and programming languages and knowledge of internet protocols and services.
  • Ability to work as a team member, exercise discretion, and good judgment in dealing with confidential and/or controversial University matters.
  • Proven ability to independently establish priorities for work assigned or accepted based on knowledge or policy and practices and/or an understanding of the nature of the work of the Faculty.
  • Proven ability to meet changing priorities, work to deadlines and make responsible decisions while maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of routine office systems and procedures for reference filing systems, and record keeping, tracking systems, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all standard forms of business communications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.


The biweekly salary is $1956.50 ($27.95 per hour).
