Your Opportunity:
The Consultant position with the Centralized Associate Physician Program in the Calgary Zone is responsible for managing the Associate Physician workforce across five departments. This includes ensuring effective recruitment, appropriate utilization, and consistent coverage for patient care across all acute care hospital sites. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Consultant provides operational leadership and supports the implementation of initiatives that enhance clinical coverage and improve efficiency in alignment with the strategic goals of Alberta Health Services. The role includes leading recruitment and onboarding of Associate Physicians, overseeing daily workforce operations, and ensuring sufficient coverage for acute care services. The Consultant also assists with budget oversight, maintains financial accountability, and manages both human and financial resources with a focus on equity, sustainability, and responsible allocation. The role requires preparing reports on program activities, applying policies and procedures that promote fairness and consistency, and using evaluation tools to measure progress toward both program and organizational goals. In addition, the Consultant fosters a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages mentorship, continuous improvement, and professional development. The Consultant plays a key role in advancing innovative initiatives that improve patient care and contribute to the overall performance of the healthcare system.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in health sciences, social sciences, or a related field. They will also have formal training in program and project management, change management, evaluation, and data analysis.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience working with International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and a strong understanding of their diverse needs. Willingness to continuously learn and adapt. Preferred experience in designing coverage scheduling to support acute care operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrated throughout professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 3 years of experience in healthcare-related environments, with a proven track record in scheduling, program design, and evaluation. Skilled in data collection and analysis. Professional experience working with International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and addressing their practice-related challenges. Expertise in conducting research and performing needs assessments. Master's degree is an asset.
