Reporting to the Senior Lead, Aquatic Sciences, the Coordinator, Aquatic Sciences is responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of aquatic health and toxicology programs in the Coal Business Unit.

You will support and collaborate with all departments and develop technical expertise through working with complex multi-disciplinary teams to support the coordination and implementation of all Aquatic Sciences initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Coordinate a team of aquatic science technicians to schedule, plan resources and effectively communicate with site environmental teams to implement complex aquatic science monitoring programs
  • Understand applicable commitments, permits, and associated requirements that inform management actions and decisions
  • Supervise and direct multiple teams of contractors, consultants and subject matter experts to ensure conformance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and to maintain compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements
  • Track and coordinate input of water quality and aquatic biological monitoring data into centralized data management systems (i.e., EQuIS), to maintain quality assurance and quality control, analysis, and reporting of environmental data
  • Collaborate with Teck\'s data team to enhance Aquatic Sciences data management and processes, to continuously improve current systems
  • Develop best management practices and guidance documents to standardize delivery and implementation of environmental projects and programs
  • Support field, lab, and data management inspections and audits to confirm standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and management plans are being followed
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of budget, accruals, forecasts, invoicing, and other cost tracking duties
  • Contribute technical input expertise to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Aquatic Science programs
  • Identify areas for innovation for continuous improvement of Teck\'s Aquatic Sciences monitoring, studies, and activities
  • Communicate emerging issues to Senior personnel
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in an environmental discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Forestry, or Agriculture or a Diploma in Environmental Technology or an environmental-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Minimum three years of experience in aquatic sciences, fisheries, water quality or environmental management
  • Proven leadership abilities in supervising contractors and consultants in a team setting; experience supervising direct report(s) is an asset
  • Experience in working with Indigenous Nations, regulatory agencies, and other communities of interest
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory approvals practices, legislation, and regulations
  • Excellent project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical support for multiple environmental projects
  • Proficient in environmental data management, analysis, and reporting, including Environmental Management Systems and EQuIS; experience managing complex data sets is considered an asset

Salary Range: $90,000 - $111,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate\'s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
