Description:
Under general direction of the Director, Academic Human Resources in the Faculty of Arts & Science, the incumbent is responsible for identifying issues, recommending solutions, and developing and implementing project plans. They will be the lead in planning and implementing new projects, assume responsibility for on-going projects, and undertake research on a wide variety of issues and topics related to academic human resources issues in the Faculty of Arts and Science, including responding to the University\'s central initiatives. They will draft, compose, and edit a wide range of written information including preparing reports, proposals, spreadsheets, presentations, and other related informational material. In collaboration with the Director, they will define requirements and scope of the projects with broad impact and long-term consequences and recommend the development and implementation of new administrative processes.
The responsibilities of the incumbent will continuously evolve, and they must be flexible and willing to respond to the given priorities of the day and be willing to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a dynamic environment.
Education:
University degree required or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Several years of progressive experience in a related setting. Advanced knowledge of the University\'s faculty policies and procedures and an understanding of the University\'s organizational structure, including its governance. Knowledge of the University\xe2\x80\x99s academic policies and practices as they pertain to full-time and part-time academic appointments, tenure, promotions, leaves and salary administration. Demonstrated project management experience in a complex, multi- stakeholder environment. Knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and provincial equity legislation and compliance requirements. Experience working with diverse populations including demonstrated ability to work effectively with designated groups.
Skills:
Proficiency in a Windows/Microsoft Office environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and email). Strong research, writing, communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical and numeracy skills. Demonstrated problem solving ability and excellent organizational skills.
OTHER:
The incumbent is required to use initiative, strong judgment, and analytical skills in handling complex/sensitive inquiries independently or referring them appropriately. As a representative of the Faculty, s/he is required to exercise a high degree of sensitivity, responsiveness, and confidentiality regarding sensitive academic human resources issues. Proven ability to work with academic administrators and others in a manner that facilitates cooperation and consensus building; ability to work independently, discretion and tact; ability to work under pressure; flexibility; comfort, facility and effectiveness with information technologies; considerable interpersonal sensitivity and diplomacy required.
