OverviewThe Enterprise Development and Operations (EDO) department of WorkSafeBC is looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative Co-op Student, Technical Writer to join our Cloud Services team, to help us strive towards our vision.The EDO Department in the Innovation & Technology Division of WorkSafeBC brings together teams who are collectively responsible for the successful development through to operations of all WorkSafeBC applications and technology infrastructure. Our focus is on maintaining system stability while increasing the speed of delivery. We ensure our stakeholders can depend on our systems to access what they need, when they need it.This is an eight-month temporary opportunity beginning in May 2024.How you\xe2\x80\x99ll make a difference: You\xe2\x80\x99ll apply what you\xe2\x80\x99ve learned in your post-secondary program to benefit workers and employers across B.C.Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll workAt WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and be on-site in our Richmond office at a minimum of once per month.What you\'ll do

  • Create and maintain documentation and repositories about Terraform processes to assist the cloud system engineering team
  • Develop wikis in Microsoft Azure to help users to understand what we\xe2\x80\x99re building and how components come into play
  • Hands-on involvement in innovative infrastructure as code (IaC) in a complex cloud environment
  • Learn Agile methodology and participate in team activities such as daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and team retrospectives
  • Learn Agile methodology of DevOps tools, technologies, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and processes essential to the development of cloud applications

  • Enrolled in a computer science or computer engineering related program or a business program with a STEM minor
  • Ability to analyze and summarize technical information
  • Good understanding of the main principles of cloud computing (particularly MS Azure)
  • Software development experience
  • Ability to communicate both in writing and verbally with a wide variety of audiences
  • Previous co-op or relevant work experience in an office environment is valued
