As an intern or co-op student through our EXCEL (Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning) Program you will gain hands-on career specific experiences to maximize your real-world potentialThe RoleAs a Production Group Leader the individual is responsible for leading a team of employees involved in manufacturing operations to safely build quality products to a schedule. Other responsibilities include reducing costs, eliminating waste, and improving safety practices. There will be multiple opportunities to learn and strengthen problem solving skills both technical and non-technical in nature. The role requires the ability to make timely decisions, manage through change, and handle risks and uncertainty. Together with other Group Leaders, you are part of a team supporting business objectives while maintaining production operations.The Production Group Leader may to collaborate on innovation challenges, interact with industry leaders, attend professional trade events, and volunteer for community service activities.Key Responsibilities:Supervise represented employees in a unionized environmentImplement Health & Safety laws, and promote a safe work environmentEnsure quality levels are maintained and improved every dayMaintain and exceed efficiency levels through continuous improvementEffective use of personnel, material and equipmentAlign with terms of local and national labour agreementsMaintain department records and complete various administrative tasksAchieve business plan objectives and targetsShift rotations and flexible to work weekends and overtime as requiredRequired Qualifications:In Pursuit of a Post Secondary Education with a Co-op component preferably (3rd or 4th year)Able to work 40 hours per week in Canada and for 8, 12, or 16-month term (2-4 consecutive semesters) starting January 2025Willing to work in a plant environment.Successful candidates will be required to attest to their vaccination status (or indicating that they do not wish to disclose), and any job offer will be conditional on the candidate providing that attestation.Preferred Qualifications:Prior manufacturing experience, knowledge of production environments, and automotive industryPrevious supervisory or team leading experienceDesired Skills:Outstanding leadership, interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organizationExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audienceHigh level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directedEvidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trustConsistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is focused on the customerPossess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skillsFundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPointPLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU DO NOT NEED SPONSORSHIP TO WORK IN CANADA NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.
