Overview

The Business, Security and End-User Services (BSES) department of WorkSafeBC is looking for one highly motivated, dynamic, innovative Co-op student, Cybersecurity and Identity Analyst to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.

The BSES department provides an exceptional technology experience for our organization by meeting end-user expectations for technology education and support, offering best-in-class Cybersecurity, and ensuring transparent and accountable decision-making through governance practices and policies. This is a eight-month temporary opportunity starting in May 2024.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and be on-site roughly once per month in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

  • Implement and monitor information security measures for the safeguarding of computer facilities and corporate data
  • Provide technical support for security tools and procedures
  • Assist in the analysis of security risks and exposures
  • Assist in the creation of policies and procedures
  • Assist in the evaluation of new tools, technologies and procedures related to information security
  • Assist in the analysis of identity provisioning and role engineering

We\'re looking for someone who can:
  • Implement, direct and enforce logical security
  • Monitor the existing information systems environment for possible security exposures; ensuring identified exposures are kept as confidential as possible; act upon problem, evaluating risk and identifying potential impact and determining an appropriate course of action
  • Provide consultation to IT staff and guardians of information assets to assist them in applying appropriate security measures
  • Participate in research and evaluations of logical and physical security products and procedures
  • Participate in awareness programs to heighten security consciousness among users; makes information presentations regarding security issues as required
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by collaborating and working effectively as a member of the team
  • Think critically while also having fun working through complex problems

Your background and experience
  • Currently a 3rd or 4th year student enrolled in a cybersecurity, computer science or related program
  • Previous co-op or relevant work experience in an office environment is preferred
  • Microsoft 365 applications and Microsoft Azure experience is an asset
