We're looking for a thoughtful and reliable Cooking & Nutrition Facilitator to join our team at the Cambridge Food Bank. In this role, you'll lead engaging, hands-on cooking programs for people of all ages, from young children to adults and community groups.
Your day might start with helping children learn basic kitchen skills and end with a corporate group rolling out pastry dough in a Food Forward workshop. If you enjoy teaching others, love working with food, and believe in creating healthy, supportive communities, this could be the perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities:
Run cooking and nutrition programs that teach practical kitchen skills
Facilitate culinary workshops for community and corporate groups
Share tips on meal planning and grocery budgeting using Canada's Food Guide
Make sure the kitchen is clean, safe, and ready for each session
Adjust lessons to reflect participants' cultures, dietary needs, and comfort levels
Track attendance and feedback, and support with stories and data for reports
Keep program info up to date and help with online registration
Work occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs
Qualifications:
Experience teaching basic cooking skills like chopping, measuring, and using different techniques
Strong grasp of Canada's Food Guide and how to apply it to real-life situations
Confident speaking to groups and leading both in-person and virtual sessions
Experience working in communities, especially where food insecurity is a concern
Good communication skills and a supportive, inclusive approach
Physically able to lift, bend, and be on your feet for most of the day
Valid G-class driver's license and a reliable vehicle
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
Assets:
A diploma or degree in culinary arts, nutrition, community work, or a similar field
Safe Food Handling certification
First Aid or Peer Health Worker training
This role is a great match for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact through food. If you care about people, community, and building skills that last a lifetime, we'd love to hear from you.
