Selis Learning Academy is excited to welcome a

passionate and energetic Cooking Instructor

to lead our young learners on a joyful journey into the world of cooking! This role focuses on teaching children essential kitchen skills, nurturing creativity, and building confidence through hands-on culinary activities.

You will design age-appropriate lessons, demonstrate simple and safe cooking techniques, and create a warm, supportive environment where children feel inspired to explore, taste, and create. This paid position offers a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a child's learning and development while sharing your love for cooking.

Responsibilities

Design engaging, child-friendly cooking lessons that introduce fundamental skills such as measuring, mixing, chopping (age-appropriate), and kitchen safety. Lead fun, interactive cooking sessions that encourage participation, creativity, and curiosity. Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels supported and excited to learn. Work with children individually or in small groups to help them build confidence, solve challenges, and celebrate their progress. Incorporate visual tools and demonstrations (e.g., pictures, step-by-step guides, simple videos) to enhance understanding and engagement. Integrate child development principles into your lesson planning to support learning, fine-motor skills, sensory exploration, and teamwork. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe cooking space in alignment with health and safety standards. Collaborate with the Academy team to ensure lessons support STREAM values, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and hands-on exploration.

Qualifications

Experience in culinary arts, home cooking, baking, or food preparation. Previous teaching experience with children, ideally in a classroom, daycare, camp, or recreational program. Strong understanding of child-friendly lesson planning and positive behavior management. Experience working with young children (ages 3-12); familiarity with neurodiverse learners or special education needs is a strong asset. Excellent communication skills and a warm, enthusiastic personality that motivates and engages kids. Bonus skills that enrich programming, such as photography, arts & crafts, sewing, dancing, drama, or childcare, are highly valued. Ability to adapt teaching strategies to different ages, developmental stages, and learning styles.

Pay: $18.15-$25.41 per hour
