Compensation: $19/hour

About the Role:

The Machine Operator contributes to the preparation of our packaged meals using a MULTIVAC machine. The Machine Operator ensures overall safe and proper operation of machinery while packaging fresh food items. The Machine Operator is proactive in health and safety matters, ensuring all guidelines are being followed and will consistently work as a member of a fast-paced, busy environment in a team setting.

Some of the things you'll get paid to do:

Food Packaging

  • Must work with speed and accuracy to keep up with machine settings, and meet production targets and metrics
  • Operate a metal detector to ensure food safety
  • Adjust machine speeds and food package settings according to standards set by the Company and Manufacturer
  • Monitor and record downtime events on production line relating to machine problems
  • Liaise with management and maintenance regarding functioning of all machines
  • Assist in switch over and machine film, labels and line supplies replenish
  • Conduct basic pre operational checks and shut downs when needed
  • Assist maintenance personnel in preventative maintenance and minor repairs
  • Monitor cleanliness of the machines and help with cleaning when needed
  • Record production data at the end of the day
  • Collect samples and visually inspect packages
Food Production
  • Assist with high volume food production
  • Cook and portion hot food items
  • Organize, weigh, and count food items
  • Maintain food safety standards and comply with work instructions
  • Ensure that items being produced meet our quality and food safety standards and bring issues to the attention of the Production manager and Quality Assurance Team.
  • Contribute to team metrics and team meetings
Clean Work Environment
  • Maintain a clean working area
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and floors after each shift
  • Keep fridges and freezers organized
  • Carefully follow health and safety rules
  • Other duties as required
About You

Must-haves
  • High school graduate/diploma
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Basic math skills, including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Ability to work on your feet for an 8-hour shift

  • Experience working in a busy kitchen or production facility
