Tasks

Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment Clean kitchen and work areas Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs Stock refrigerators and salad bars Sharpen kitchen knives Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand Remove kitchen garbage and trash Portion and wrap foods Package take-out food Keep records of the quantities of food used Handle and store cleaning products Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment Prepare, heat and finish simple food items Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas Place dishes in storage area Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
