We are delighted to announce that we are currently seeking professional, enthusiastic, and compassionate Cooks to join our team. As a Cook, you will be responsible for providing meals to residents while adhering to all organizational and legislative policies and procedures, as well as maintaining professional conduct. The Cook collaborates with the resident care team to ensure that high-quality, resident-focused therapeutic textures and dining are consistently achieved and actively participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
The duties of the Cook include:
Reviewing menus and preparing food in accordance with standardized recipes and production sheets
Assisting the Food Services Manager in their absence
Monitoring the quality and quantity of food supplies and recommending corrective actions if necessary
Coaching Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serving activities
Assuming responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager, including staff replacements and service calls for malfunctioning equipment
Maintaining all required records and cooperating with other departments to meet resident needs
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Completion of Cook qualifications, Chief Training, or a culinary management certificate/diploma from a program that meets the requirements of the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations
A Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of a TB test (skin test or clear chest x-ray) and a minimum of 2 doses of COVID vaccine
Current CPR (preferred)
Additional training in areas such as Safe Food Handling, GPA, Person-Centered care, and education related to working with clients with dementia/responsive behaviors would be an asset.
