Overview

The Cook at Bytown Tiffins is responsible for preparing high-quality, consistent Indian meals for daily tiffin delivery. The role demands strong cooking skills, organization, speed, and the ability to maintain cleanliness and food-safety standards. You must deliver consistent taste, quality, and portioning every single day.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Meal Preparation

Prepare authentic Indian veg, non-veg, vegan, and gym-meal items according to daily menu plans. Cook dals, sabzis, rice, roti, curries, proteins, and side dishes. Maintain consistent taste, texture, and presentation.

Batch Cooking & Portioning

Prepare meals in bulk according to the number of orders. Portion meals accurately into containers (no under/over portions). Label and organize meals for delivery.

Kitchen Operations

Coordinate with helpers for chopping, dishwashing, packing, and cleaning. Maintain daily checklists for prep, cooking, and sanitation. Manage inventory: vegetables, spices, oils, grains, and proteins.

Hygiene & Safety

Follow all food-safety and sanitization rules. Keep workstations clean and organized. Ensure proper storage temperatures and FIFO (first in, first out) rotation.

Quality Control

Ensure food is fresh, properly cooked, and matches Bytown Tiffins quality standards. Report shortages or quality issues immediately. Maintain consistency across every meal.

Skills & Requirements

Experience in Indian cooking (home-style North Indian preferred). Ability to manage volume cooking efficiently. Good understanding of spices, flavours, and timing. Ability to work early mornings. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen. Must maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards. Team player with a strong work ethic.

Nice to Have

Experience in a commercial kitchen. Knowledge of meal-prep style batching. Ability to innovate simple, cost-effective menu items.
