We are seeking a dedicated

Cook

to join our team in a retirement home / long-term care setting. The Cook plays an essential role in providing high-quality meals while ensuring resident safety, comfort, and satisfaction. This position reports to the Manager of Culinary Services.

The Cook is responsible for food preparation, plate presentation, and maintaining hospitality-style dining services in accordance with organizational standards, legislative requirements, and core values.

Responsibilities

Prepare food according to menus and standardized recipes Set up equipment and supplies needed for food preparation Provide meals that meet prescribed diets, temperature standards, and portion control guidelines Ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices at all times Inspect food preparation and serving areas for cleanliness and compliance Complete required documentation, including food and refrigeration temperatures, dishwashing logs, and menu changes Follow all provincial regulations, food and beverage policies, and ORCA standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment using infection control principles Assist with departmental operations in the absence of the Manager of Culinary Services, including menu adjustments and ordering supplies Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum

1 year

experience in volume food preparation, catering, or hospitality (retirement or long-term care experience preferred) Knowledge of dietary needs of seniors is an asset Physically able to stand for most of the shift and lift/transfer heavy and hot items Strong verbal and written English communication skills Minimum Grade 12 education Valid

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
