St. Leonard's Society of North Vancouver is a Federal Halfway House reintegrating and treating (substance abuse, mental health and trauma) adult male on conditional release. We have been in business since 1979 and contracted through the Correctional Services of Canada.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Cook. This role involves providing exceptional food service, preparing meals, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, excellent serving skills, and experience in restaurant or kitchen environments. Responsibilities
Serve customers efficiently and courteously, ensuring a positive dining experience
Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and standards
Cook meals with attention to quality, presentation, and food safety protocols
Handle food with proper hygiene practices to maintain cleanliness and safety
Assist in food preparation tasks such as chopping, mixing, and plating
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment and work surfaces
Follow all food safety regulations and sanitation procedures at all times
Support team members during busy periods to ensure timely service
Requirements
Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments preferred
Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal assembly
Strong understanding of food handling and safety standards in the food industry
Excellent serving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good communication skills and teamwork orientation
Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays if required
