Job Overview


Popeyes cooks are responsible for preparing menu items, primarily breading and frying chicken , ensuring high-quality, consistent food, maintaining strict sanitation standards, and operating in a fast-paced environment. Key tasks include managing the fry station, cooking sides, cleaning, checking food temperatures, and lifting heavy inventory.

Core Responsibilities



Food Preparation & Cooking:

Breading, marinating, and frying chicken, cooking sides, and assembling sandwiches following specific brand recipes.

Station Maintenance:

Maintaining high cleanliness standards for the kitchen, equipment, counters, and floors, including daily cleaning.

Food Safety & Quality Control:

Monitoring food temperatures, ensuring proper holding times, and ensuring product freshness.

Speed & Efficiency:

Working quickly to meet demand during rush hours, often as the sole cook.

Inventory Management:

Stocking, lifting, and moving heavy food inventory (up to 60 lbs).

Physical and Operational Requirements



Environment:

Fast-paced, high-pressure, often involving hot oil and, in some locations, cold storage.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand for 6-7 hours per shift, and to bend, twist, and lift regularly.

Teamwork:

Supporting team members to ensure smooth, efficient service.

Key Skills



Knowledge of kitchen operations and equipment. Consistency and attention to detail. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities



Prepare food items according to established recipes and standards Handle food safely, adhering to all health regulations and safety protocols Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure freshness Support team members during busy periods to ensure timely service Uphold restaurant policies and standards for food safety, hygiene, and customer service

Experience



Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments is preferred Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods Familiarity with food handling safety standards and regulations Experience in meal preparation within the food industry is advantageous Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $17.27 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 40 per week

Work Location: In person
