Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service, culinary arts, and dietary support, with a focus on providing exceptional retreat meal preparation and service in a healing environment. This role involves creativity, knowledge of different type of allergies, sensitivities, diets, and the ability to pivot with plans. The cook will play a vital role in supporting menu planning, food handling, and meal service operations to meet the needs of our guests.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals according to the dietary guidelines and number of guests present Be able to menu plan to accommodate dietary restrictions, guest preferences, and allergies Handle food preparation tasks including chopping, cooking, plating, and portioning Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and food service areas Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to uphold food safety standards Prepare and serve food in accordance with event specifications (meat, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, and other specific diets) Assist with inventory management, including stocking supplies and rotating stock items Grocery shop within a certain budget Collaborate with volunteers and retreat staff to ensure meals are on time and have a friendly and open attitude Uphold high standards of hygiene, sanitation, and safety throughout all food-related activities

Requirements

Previous experience in cooking for large groups of people Background in food industry settings such as restaurants, fine dining establishments, or catering services Knowledge of grocery shopping within a budget, menu planning, food preparation techniques, and culinary skills Experience with food safety protocols and proper handling procedures Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team Flexibility to adapt to different meal schedules and dietary needs a must Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks as needed
Job Types: Casual, Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 - 72 per week
