Harbour Estates Winery is searching for skilled cooks with a passion for culinary arts!If you enjoy creating fantastic dining experiences for customers and are reliable, consistent and creative, this is the position for you. The cook must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. The ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidaysDuties & Responsibilities- Work as part of an experienced team to prepare and execute lunch / dinner service, private events, catering, weddings, concerts & tasting menus- Set up stations according to restaurant guidelines- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances- Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station- Handles, stores and rotates all products properly. Exercising FIFO and product labelling / dating standards- Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed- Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area that meets food health & safety standards- Meets personal hygiene requirements at the start of each shift- Closes & opens the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations- Performs additional responsibilities, as requested by assistant managerSkills & Experience- Asian cuisine experience is preferred and employer provides training of making sushi- Good working knowledge of culinary terms and practices- Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required- Demonstrated knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation required- Demonstrate good customer service skills with understanding of customer expectations- The ability to excel in a fast-paced environment characterized by evolving priorities- Demonstrate strong initiative, reliability, and a sense of pride in all aspects of work- Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision- Effective communication skills- Attention to detail- Strong work ethic and positive team attitudeQualifications:- Professional diploma or food services management preferred- Event/Hospitality: 1-2 years- Kitchen preparation and cooking: 1-2 years- License/Certificate: Food Safe, SafeCheck, or Food Handler (preferred)Job Types: Full-time/Part-time/ContractWe Offer- Competitive hourly rate: wage commensurate with experience.- Tips Benefits- Discounted or free food- Discounted or free wine- HolidaysSchedule:- Wednesday to Sunday- Weekend availabilityAbility to commute/relocate:- Jordan Station, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Please note, applicants must already have legal permission to work in Canada to be considered.We look forward to hearing from you!
