About the Role:
As a Cook, you'll play an important role in supporting the daily dining experience for our residents by preparing fresh, high-quality meals that reflect their tastes and cultural preferences. You'll work closely with the kitchen team to plan and prepare menus, ensure food safety standards are met, and contribute to a welcoming, home-like environment.
What you will be doing:
Prepare food items following established schedules, menus, recipes and quantity quotas; assembling ingredients and equipmetn required for cooking. Reporting and recoding substitutions and productions quantities.
Cook and season assigned food and various therapeutic diet items by methods/procedures such as frying , roasing, grilling, steaming, boiling and baking.
Test food items for palatability and temperature, adjusting accordingly. Recording all required documentation (temperature logs and meal time logs)
Maintains established food rotations in storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste; assigns tasks to designated Food Service Workers as required.
Cleans equipment and work area using appropriate cleaning agents to ensure hospital and applicable sanitation standards are met.
Participates in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by understanding and following Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices such as fire, disaster, WHMIS, SMART MOVES and Infection Control.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities to enrich and advance various processes through the effective use of available resources.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:
Previous Cooking experience
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to providing quality service in a healthcare setting
Graduation from a recognized 12-mnth program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Current Food Safe l certificate
