Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares meals for detoxification clients, Centre staff, Board meetings and other occasions as required
Responsible for ordering supplies within the allotted budget, and maintaining inventory control
Ensures kitchen, dining area and beverage area are kept clean and tidy according to Alberta Health Standards and best practice
Prepares meals ahead for weekends and holidays
Collects money for staff meals and remits to the Financial Controller
Interacts with the clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner
Prepares snacks for service users in our Supervised Consumption Service
Maintains beverage areas throughout the building
Prepares foods that address special dietary needs
Assist with weekly meal planning and grocery list preparation
Assist with the preparation of food for special events, such as holiday meals and birthday celebrations
Provide guests with a home-like environment for the duration of their stay
Establish effective working relationships with all team members
Represents the organization in a professional manner
Attend staff and team meetings as required
Any other task or responsibility assigned by the Manager, Director, or Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications:
Experience in a professional kitchen
Demonstrated food preparation ability, including ordering, and working within budget guidelines
Demonstrated level of literacy sufficient for job requirements
An open accepting attitude
Able to work with volunteers, independently and as a team member
Ability to maintain a positive and professional environment
Understanding of substance related disorders, harm reduction and trauma informed practice
Valid Food Safety Certificate
Valid First Aid, CPR, AED Certification
Possesses a high level of tolerance and understanding for individuals who present with urgent multiple health needs
Current Police with Vulnerable Sector Check
Hours of Work:
6:45 am to 7:15 pm, weekends, 4 on 4 off rotation
