Fishing Lodge Cook/Chef
Silver Water Wheel Lodge is a remote, drive-to, full service, full American plan, fishing lodge. It is located on the south shore of Lac Seul in northwest Ontario, one hour north of Dryden. We are seeking a seasonal, full-time cook to provide family style meals for Guests and Staff for our 2022 season.Applicants must be available through September.Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have 3 years cooking experience; Camp experience beneficial
• Must have certification or complete course for Food Handler Safety
• Able to prepare breakfast and dinner for 19 staff and up to 40 guests on a daily basis
• Strong work ethic, mature, friendly, punctual, and conscientious
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Able to work well under strict timelines in a fast paced environment
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to any changes that come up daily including Guest food allergies.
• Work well with a team and independently
• Personable and enjoys working with the public
• Strong attention to detail
• Creative and forward thinking - always wanting to improve/grow
• Pride in self, work, and finished product
• Professional appearance
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to handle the solitude of living in a remote location
• Must be legally able to work in Canada
• COVID-19 considerations:

All of our Guests will be fully vaccinated and we will require our staff to also be up to date on covid shots and boosters.:

• Follow daily menus for staff and guests.
• Provide excellent product consistently from week to week.
• Prepare and serve all meals in a timely manner
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
• Prepare baked goods such as bread/dinner rolls, cookies, and desserts.
• Maintain inventory control of food and supplies
• Prepare and place orders with vendors
• Maintain records
• Prepare cookies, potatoes, and wild rice mix for shore lunch
• Prepare steaks, ribs, pork chops, chicken on gas grill.
• Properly prepare Prime Rib
• Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of kitchen, walk-in cooler, refrigerator, freezers, and pantry
• Follow all health and safety guidelines
• Work very closely with (4) Lodge Staff/Housekeeping and (1) Guest Services Personnel
• The lodge has a wonderful team of employees. It is essential that the applicant be a solid team player and is able to get along with co - workers.
• Work with and communicate daily with management in discussing menu development and kitchen hygiene. Able to talk openly about changes to product/menu if necessary.
