Prepare nutritious, appealing meals and snacks for 60 children aged 0-5 following the centre's menu, dietary restrictions, and food safety standards. Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment and collaborate with staff to support mealtimes and food-related documentation.
Key responsibilities
Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks according to approved menus and portion sizes.
Follow dietary restrictions, allergy plans, and individual feeding instructions.
Maintain safe food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Clean and organize kitchen, dishes, and food prep areas.
Keep accurate records for menu, inventory, and temperature logs.
Communicate with the centre director about menu changes, supply needs, and special dietary concerns.
Assist staff during mealtimes as needed to support children's routines.
Qualifications and skills
Food safety certification (e.g., Food Handler) required; higher-level safe food handling preferred.
Valid police check with Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to hire.
Early Childhood Education Level 1 is an asset.
Previous experience cooking for groups, preferably with children or in institutional settings.
Ability to follow menus and recipe guidelines, and adapt for allergies and dietary needs.
Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness.
Reliable, positive team player with clear communication skills.
