We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join our dynamic Food Services team and work collaboratively with another Cook in supporting our Meals on Wheels, Congregate Dining, and Organizational Catering programs. As part of a strong, team-focused kitchen, you will share responsibility for planning, preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals while upholding high standards of food quality and safety. This role also includes coordinating daily kitchen operations and working closely with kitchen helpers and volunteers to ensure an efficient, supportive, and positive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, cook, and serve meals in accordance within defined standards and quality
Order quality food and supplies within an established budget
Coordinate meal preparation for two locations
Coordinate the activities of kitchen helpers/volunteers
Deliver high-quality food service for Meals on Wheels and Congregate Dining, ensuring meals are prepared, portioned, and served in alignment with program standards and client needs
Support food preparation and service for occasional organizational events, including board meetings, volunteer appreciation, and other corporate or community functions as needed.
Requirements:
Safe Food Handling Certification
Clean Police Check
Must have a minimum of two years' experience in the meal preparation field
Knowledge of menu planning
Knowledge of developing recipes including cost management
Knowledge of large-scale food preparation processes.
Knowledge of restrictive diets and related food preparation
Knowledge of safety rules for kitchen equipment safety practices
Knowledge of healthy eating guide as it applies for seniors
Proficient with Microsoft Office and related office software
Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
22.5 hours per week (4.5 hours per day); Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; morning shift
Compensation:
Rate Range $18.97 - $21.34 per hour
Eligible for 5% Employer RSP contribution and benefits
