We are seeking energetic, forward-thinking, motivated individuals to join our team!This opportunity is for Tempo Flex Life Schedule (FLS), where you work for 36 hours a week and get paid for 40 hours a week. You work only 3 days a week, 12 hours a day. The flexible schedule offers more family / personal time as you work only 12 days and get 16 days off every 4 weeks.We invite you to apply now! Converting Machine Operator at Tempo Flexible Packaging is responsible for accomplishing department objectives through operating converting machines to provide high quality products that conform to company standards (product realization).
As well, they will be required to do/assist set-ups and operate converting equipment to produce bags and pouches within standard production efficiencies and conduct necessary quality inspections to meet customer expectations.
As the Converting Machine Operator is an integral part of the fast-paced and quality-oriented manufacturing environment, they must be knowledgeable in converting processes of flexographic packaging and skilled in operating equipment with necessary tools to optimize day-to-day activities.Core Competencies:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strictly adheres to the company policies and procedures (ISO quality program, IFS PACsecure program, GMP and environmental requirements, etc.).
  • Works in a safe manner and complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • Reads and comprehends the schedule and verifies with the docket for the accuracy of order specifications.
  • Conducts quality checks by comparing bags to docket specifications.
  • Matches office sample or artwork to bag being made.
  • Looks through the whole docket for additional information (Ex: Pink Slips, NMR's, etc.).
  • Communicates to previous shift operators to see how the previous shift ran and relays to oncoming shift operators any problems that need to be monitored.
  • Carefully reads and accurately records any deviations in communication book and statistical charts.
  • Performs safety circle checks on equipment they are assigned to.
  • Signs into Torri and enters data throughout shift (ex: runtime, setup time, down time, scrap, make labels for finished product, etc.)
  • Performs first-off quality inspection with another operator to check that product meets customers' requirements.
  • Performs quality checks after the completion of set-ups and throughout the shift as per Inspection and Operational Procedures ("IP &OP").
  • Changes rolls, zippers, valves, etc. as required.
  • Stocks up supplies as needed.
  • Keeps the production floor and machineries clean and in an orderly manner.
  • Works as a team to accomplish the departmental goals and production targets by assisting and communicating with Level 1,2 &3 machine operators, setup operators, material handlers, supervisor and manager.
  • Sets up machine as per the process control sheet.
  • Performs advance set-ups when required.
  • Performs some rework-requirements when requested to do so.
  • Controls and adjusts machine settings in accordance with process controls (e.g. speed).
  • Monitors machine settings during run and performs adjustments on machine to keep within customer specifications.
  • Identifies minor problems on machines and troubleshoots accordingly (ex: change perps, and punches, assists to seal head changes, etc.) depending on level of training.
  • Writes up work orders when repairs are needed (ex. pink slips, NMR's, etc.) with accurate information.
  • Communicates to setup operators and supervisors any issues, things they fixed or problems with machines, etc.
  • Removes finished packaged items from machine and separates rejected items.
  • Neatly packs product in cartons as per docket specification.
  • Places boxes on skid with appropriate labels to prepare for shipping.
  • Assists setup operators and maintenance crew with setup or minor repairs depending on the level of training.
  • Any other duties required by the Converting Machine Operator.
Requirements (Job Specification):
  • High School Diploma.
  • 1-2 years of proven experience as a Machine Operator or similar role in a flexographic converting environment is preferable.
  • Experience in operating various types of converting machinery and their troubleshooting will be an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Holds themselves accountable to performance and quality standards.
