Kruger Products manufactures and distributes high quality, cost-effective product solutions to a wide range of commercial and public entities. Through warehouse clubs, food-service and wholesale distributors and janitorial-supply companies, AFH supplies quality paper-based solutions to the accommodation, food service, property management and healthcare sectors.

About the Opportunity

Currently, Kruger Products LP is looking for energetic candidates that have an ability to learn quickly and who thrive in fast-paced environments that would like to grow with our company as an assistant machine operator in our Scarborough, Ontario location.

The Assistant Machine Operator position is part of a team that has accountability for the safe operation of the Converting equipment. Incumbents will report directly to the Shift Supervisor of the respective area they are assigned. This is an hourly paid position that works a 12hr. rotating shift schedule. The facility operates on a 24-hour, 7 day per week, 365 day per year basis.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate wrapper (Senning) and case packer (Stax)
  • Responsible for adjustments such as completing set-ups, aligning poly, replacing flights, checking finished packs quality, and making adjustments as needed. Alignment of cases and adjustments as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in roll changes and operating through breaks.
  • Record production numbers (case count) and any downtime for the production line and be aware of how this compares with daily targets.
  • Provide feedback and maintenance requests to improve machine efficiency.
  • Operate their primary equipment (wrapper and case packers, etc.) at standard speeds to maximize productivity.
  • Escalate equipment performance issues mechanics as necessary.
  • Produce product with an emphasis on quality, completing all assigned quality checks and resolving/escalating any issues.
  • Keep the work area clean and deposit waste bins at the baler operator\'s station when full and at the end of each shift.
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards i.e. ensure periodic clean-up of equipment and or other housekeeping requirements.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety policies, compliances and regulations.
  • Use all required safety equipment, e.g., Steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses / goggles, etc.
  • Participate in training and cross training improvement initiatives including health and safety and quality improvement.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Safety:

Assistant Machine Operators will accept personal responsibility at all times for themselves and assist where they can with the safety of other team members and contractors. This includes, but is not limited to such things as:
  • Ensuring all safety rules and safe work procedures are followed by themselves and by other working in and around the machinery.
  • All injuries and near misses being reported and followed up on in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in accident/incident investigations.
  • Housekeeping standards and expectations are maintained.
  • Active participation in team safety meetings, discussions, and training opportunities.
  • Following all safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout, PPE, etc.
Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proven technical skills; ability to make adjustments to Converting units.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to work in a Team environment.
  • Willing to be committed to safety & organizational goals.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs., climb ladders and stairs, and stand for continuous periods of time.
  • Ability to work rotating 12hr shifts & weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid, noisy, & high-volume machine production area
  • Ability & willingness to work safely & wear PPE as required.
  • Ability to meet Attendance expectations.
