The Position:



The Controls Software Design Co-op will contribute to machine concepts, design of control software, integration of software with electrical and mechanical systems, process development, and machine installation at customer sites worldwide. The incumbent will also work on programming and integration assignments utilizing PLCs, PCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, lasers, and other controllers while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.



What You'll Be Doing:



Assist in the design and develop software programs (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer and project requirements based on standard Eclipse programming methods Assist in debug and commissioning control systems at Eclipse facilities during the system integration stage and then at the customer site during installation Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers Work with other members of the Controls Engineering department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with the goals being enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost Assist in providing thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness Provide accurate documentation for each project Advise customer on solving technical problems Provide customer with training specific to their current project (i.e. machine operation, programming principles, and program structure) Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings Complete other duties and projects as assigned Ensure scheduled milestones are met Notify the appropriate departments if milestones are not projected to be met by expected due dates Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse Corporate Vision Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business

What We're Looking for:



Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in electrical systems Strong organizational skills Ability to establish priorities and work with minimal supervision Advanced computer skills in Excel Team player and able to coordinate activities with other departments Excellent written and oral communication skills Students must be enrolled in post-secondary academic program requiring a co-op work term.
