Role Brief:
We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Controls Engineering Manager to lead our controls team in the design and development of automation systems for industrial equipment used in the processing of plastic pipe (excluding extrusion and corrugation equipment). This pivotal role will drive product innovation, ensure excellence in system design and implementation, and foster a culture of technical mastery, accountability, and collaboration.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineering leader with deep technical expertise in Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff platforms, proven success in managing automation teams, and a passion for building products that deliver superior quality, performance, and reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of control engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Define project timelines, set priorities, and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines and deliverables.
Ensure the team is aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities.
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback via 1-on-1's and support the professional development of team members.
Define and implement departmental strategy, key performance indicators (KPIs), and long-term goals aligned with company objectives.
Forecast staffing and resource needs in line with company growth and evolving project demands.
Promote Parmerit's values, culture, and commitment to excellence in every aspect of work.
Collaborate with business development and product management teams to execute the product development roadmap.
Oversee the full lifecycle of control system design, programming, testing, and troubleshooting for industrial processing equipment.
Guide development of PLC and HMI applications using Allen-Bradley (CompactLogix, ControlLogix) and Beckhoff TwinCAT platforms.
Ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and industry standards (NFPA 79, IEC 61131, ISO 13849, CSA, UL, CE).
Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues during design, commissioning, and post-installation support.
Align controls design strategies with customer requirements and market trends to enhance competitiveness.
Ensure project planning, capacity scheduling, and resource allocation to meet project deadlines and budgets.
Champion process improvements to increase efficiency, standardization, and code quality across platforms.
Stay current with emerging automation technologies and assess their applicability to company products.

Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Automation or a related field.
Proven experience in manufacturing, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other field devices.
Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Motoman, ABB, etc.), including programming and trouble shooting.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in scheduling and capacity planning within an engineering environment.
Willingness to travel to client sites for project installations, commissioning, and support
