Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our financial operations and Finance department to ensure compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent business and financial acumen who can manage all aspects of the finance department.

Responsibilities

Monitors legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting and operations, and ensures compliance Leads and supervises finance department staff on accounting, record keeping, analysis, reporting, budgeting, and other financial matters Investigates variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploys measures to resolve variances Manages the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting Establishes and monitors internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures Prepares budgets and forecasting Prepares, analyzes and presents monthly, quarterly and annual operating results Monitors KPIs for overall effectiveness Provides strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making Collaborates with internal and external auditors, and executive committee Ensure accounts are operated within budget and on target through preparation of an annual budget, monthly responsibility reports, and semi-annual reports. Manages foreign exchange transactions Works with sales team on product pricing, costing and margins Coordinates the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements Completes reporting to various companies and agencies (e.g. Statistics Canada) Records all business transactions, processes accruals and adjustments, and reconciles accounts

Skills

Chartered Professional Accountant designation is a must. Strong knowledge of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management Experience with financial report writing and regulatory reporting Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail Proficient in using various accounting software tools for efficient operations Ability to lead finance teams
