GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Controller is responsible to oversee the organization's daily Accounting Operations, including the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The Employee may attend relevant training, workshops, or seminars as needed to maintain and enhance job knowledge and performance. The Employee is expected to be a team player, provide positive leadership, and liaise with facility staff.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and support Bookkeeping & Administration team
Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff
Oversee regulatory reporting
Develop and monitor business performance metrics
Oversee accounting and internal control systems
Periodic review of accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
Perform account reconciliations
Managing the budget process
Provide management with information vital for decision making
Oversee & review payables, receivables and payroll
Prepare internal and external financial statements
Liaise with IT staff on technical challenges
Develop, implement, evaluate, and improve the organization's policies, procedures, and metrics, ensuring they're consistently aligned with all applicable requirements and laws.
Communicate verbally and in writing with co- workers, customers, community groups, other
departments and outside organizations and agencies.
Provide excellent professional customer service.
Comply with City Centre Park safety procedures. Assist with other duties as assigned by the Manager of Finance & Administration.
REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES
First Aid
Criminal Record Check
Bookkeeping or Accounting experience minimum 7 years
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Preference to candidates with an MBA or Accounting designation
Proficient in Excel, Word, and accounting programs (Sage 50 preferred)
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Demonstrated ability for accuracy and thoroughness
Effective time management and organizational skills
Willingness to learn, grow professionally, adapt to changes and needs of the facility
Strong computer skills are an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment primarily with some work at other recreation facilities throughout City Centre Park. Employee will be subject to managing number of people and projects at one time.
