StarFish Medical is looking for a

Controller

Senior Director of Finance

, you will oversee and manage the production of timely and accurate financial reports, including the Income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements for all companies in the Group.

Salary





The Base Salary is $102,579 - $122,374. Annual variable compensation tied to goal completion has a target of 5.5% of the base salary. Employees are also eligible to earn profit sharing.

What You'll Do




Financial Operations Management:

Prepare, oversee and ensure accuracy of financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for all StarFish Group companies

Team Leadership:

Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff (AP, AR, Payroll, Accountants); manage staffing and performance of the accounting department

Month-End and Year-End Processes:

Oversee the monthly and year-end closing procedures, quarterly reporting, and audit preparation activities.

Operational Accounting Management:

Oversee processing of accounts payable, receivable, billing, inventory, collections, payroll, and related functions

Compliance and Regulatory:

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings, remittances, and statutory reporting

Process Improvement:

Review and recommend improvements to financial policies, procedures, systems (processes and information systems such as ERP), operations, KPIs and practices across the organization to enhance efficiency and controls

Financial Analysis:

Support budgeting and cash flow management processes

Stakeholder Relations:

Liaise with external accountants, auditors, bankers, and other stakeholders as needed

Cost Management:

Advocate for consistent practices across the organization to maintain appropriate spending.

Cash Flow Management:

Monitor cash positions and prepare cash projections.

Payroll:

Oversee payroll process, including deductions, year-end filings (T4s, T4As, ROEs), and remittances

10+ years of corporate accounting experience

CPA

designation and a degree in Accounting or Finance (CMA/CA/CGA) Experience with project accounting systems; cost accounting is a plus Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools A strategic mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and technical depth Experience with system implementations and/or SysPro is an asset
