Role Summary:





The Automotive Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for both Vernon Nissan and Kelowna Truck & RV. This role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with policies and regulations, and provides strategic insights that support effective decision-making. The Controller plays a key role in safeguarding company assets, managing cash flow, and fostering a culture of financial accountability and integrity.


The successful candidate may choose to work out of either the Kelowna or Vernon dealership.

Key Responsibilities:



Oversee the full accounting cycle including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and dealership reporting requirements. Monitor and manage cash flow, banking, and dealership investments. Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with manufacturer, government, and company policies. Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and best practices. Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support operational and strategic planning. Work closely with department managers to review budgets, expenses, and performance against financial objectives. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions as required. Train, mentor, and supervise accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily operations. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement technology or system enhancements.

Qualifications & Requirements:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation preferred). Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in an automotive dealership or related industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with dealership management systems (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack) considered an asset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong leadership abilities with experience managing accounting teams. High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
