About the Role




The

Controller

plays a key leadership role in overseeing the integrity of Pedalheads' financial systems, reporting, and controls across our growing North American operations. This role combines hands-on accounting expertise with systems ownership and team mentorship in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Financial Reporting & Controls



Oversee month-end and year-end close for multiple entities. Ensure accuracy and compliance with ASPE and U.S. GAAP standards for all journal entries, accruals, and intercompany eliminations. Review and finalize financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analyses. Strengthen internal control frameworks to ensure data integrity and audit readiness. Liaise with external accountants and tax advisors for annual reviews and filings.

System Ownership - Sage Intacct



Serve as the system owner for Sage Intacct (GL, AP, AR, Purchasing, Dimensions, Reporting). Build and maintain Smart Rules, Smart Events, and Dimensions to enhance site- and department-level reporting. Manage user roles, approvals, and workflows to align with operational structures and control processes. Lead automation initiatives for recurring entries, AP workflows, and bank reconciliations. Oversee integrations with ADP, Ramp, and other operational systems. Develop dynamic dashboards for financial and performance KPIs. Launch and manage the Advantage Tax System.

Team Leadership & Development



Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including junior accountants, payroll clerks, and AP support. Establish review and accountability frameworks to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Provide training on Intacct processes, accounting standards, and cross-functional collaboration.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analytics



Support the Director of Finance and department heads with annual budgets and ongoing variance analyses. Maintain consolidated financial models aligned with Intacct actuals and forecasts. Contribute to the automation of BVA reporting, cash forecasting, and spend analytics.

Qualifications



Education & Credentials



CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

Technical Expertise



Sage Intacct:

Advanced proficiency required (multi-entity consolidations, Smart Rules, dashboards). Proven experience optimizing workflows, allocations, and automation. Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, pivot tables, data modeling). Familiarity with

ADP Workforce Now

,

Ramp

, or equivalent payroll/expense systems. Experience with

Power BI

or similar analytics tools is an asset.

Experience



5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or controller capacity. Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment (service or seasonal industry preferred). Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. accounting and tax environments.
