ABOUT US:




Since 2009, Gowest has expanded its land holdings in the North Timmins Gold Project ("NTGP") area to cover a total of 109 square km in the Timmins gold camp, with much of the additional lands being located along the same geological structures - along the largely undeveloped Pipestone Fault, believed to be a splay off the prolific Porcupine-Destor Fault, which has produced the majority of the 145 million ounces of gold produced historically along the Abitibi-Greenstone belt - that host Gowest's Bradshaw Gold Deposit (formerly Frankfield East) as well as a number of other gold showings.

POSITION SUMMARY:




Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will coordinate and supervise the accounting and procurement group at Gowest Gold. Key responsibilities include providing technical and supervisory leadership within the department while acting as a financial resource for operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Generate accurate, timely and complete financial information in standard reporting formats. Develop annual budgets, strategic business plans and forecasts working closely with the Management team, operating departments, and corporate office. Provide variance analysis on monthly, quarterly and annual cost reports. Ensure site compliance with IFRS and corporate accounting guidelines and adhere to the ongoing governance of the accounting practices. Implement and monitor audit recommendations (internal and external). Communicate accounting policy changes to management, ensuring understanding and compliance. Provide assistance/guidance in preparation of authorization for expenditures reports (AFEs). Supervise and develop the accounting department, ensuring processing is timely and accurate and that site procedures are effective and efficient. Ownership of internal controls, policies and procedures ensuring all are adhered to and consistent with corporate objectives. Provide accounting systems support. Development of accounting staff via reviews, mentoring, coaching and training. Provide support in evaluating/implementing new business processes. Provide and generate accurate and timely financial statements, reports and statistical information to departments, mine management, regional and corporate offices and various government and regulatory bodies. Ensure that all provincial, federal, legal, corporate, and professional standards and laws are met. REQUIREMENTS:



University degree in a related discipline. Professional accounting designation is required. 8 to 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in an industrial setting. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role. Comprehensive knowledge of financial systems and spreadsheets. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment. Provide purpose, direction and motivation to enhance team performance and effectiveness. Act in a manner that builds trust and demonstrates integrity. Assume a proactive role in all duties. Promote efficient and cost-effective practices. Represent Gowest Gold in a professional manner at all times.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:



The role is located at the Bradshaw Gold Project, which is approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, Canada. The ideal candidate for the role will work a schedule of 4 days on and 3 off, 10-hour days. Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
