As the Controller, you are critical in developing and executing the accounting framework, internal controls and procedures, overseeing financial operations, managing accurate financial statements, maintain finances that align with Mapletri's objectives, all while ensuring complete compliance to financial regulations and standards such as Canadian GAAP and Tax laws. You will be the sole leader and driver of the below responsibilities.

General Responsibilities:



Management & Executive Functions: Oversight of team of accountants and bookkeepers, guiding them on accounting tasks and directing daily financial operations. Lead the accounting department as a whole, manage month-end and year-end processes, and support executive decision-making through timely and accurate financial insights. Review all related-companies' books to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance. Conduct periodic accounting department audits and resolve any financial issues. Internal Controls: Develop and execute best accounting practices and procedures, implement and maintain effective controls to safeguard assets, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and enhance transparency and manage risks. Create protocols and company policies for accounting staff. Financial Reporting: Oversight and preparation of accurate financial statements across all related-companies, especially month-ends and year-ends, ensuring they adhere to accounting best practices, standards, and Canadian GAAP. Reconciliation: Produce periodic reconciliation packages that demonstrate formal processes, procedures, internal control and alignment of all financial statements and its backup. Accounting: Bookkeeping and accounting for certain companies' books, if required. Tax Compliance: May support external accountants with filings, year-ends, and compliance with relevant tax regulations & CRA, including GST/HST, payroll remittances, and corporate tax filings. Monitoring: Tracking budgets, trends, cash flow, working capital, and financial risks; recommend improvements to enhance financial efficiency. Investigate variances and deficiencies. Data Analysis, Budgeting & Advisory: Collect, consolidate and analyze financial data to provide insights for strategic decision-making. Financial planning and advisory for the company's vision and alignment, ensuring financials and budgets align to corporate goals. Well-Rounded Team Member: Work closely with and report to the COO & CFO; Work closely with external accountants, especially during review engagement and year-ends, or as required Other: Including but not limited to the above tasks, as needed and reasonably expected from full-scale Controller

Qualifications:



CPA designation or equivalent is an asset Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field 5-7 years of progressive accounting managerial experience Outstanding knowledge in, and accurate application of Canadian GAAP (ASPE or IFRS), financial reporting requirements and standards General knowledge in Canadian Tax laws & regulations, GST/HST, payroll remittances, and corporate tax filings Expert in maintaining an entire large organization (with related companies) to conform with Accounting and Tax laws Demonstrated experience in developing, writing and executing professional documentation such as controls, policies, procedures, reconciliations, reports, business cases, disciplinary or corrective actions, and corporate documents Expert in Quickbooks Trustworthy, Ethical, Loyal: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Resourceful ability to resolve matters independently while using appropriate judgment to seek guidance as needed Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail Laser-accuracy; meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities while working under pressure Comfortable navigating fast-paced, high-change environments with a strategic and solutions-oriented mindset Proven ability to lead and manage subordinates Great intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, team player, understands the tasks on hand. Communicates well, hard working on different sites as needed Committed to results - will work in a flexible environment, easily adapts, can be where needed, understands what needs to be done daily to reach goals Willing to learn and grow Ability to travel to/from work and required locations
