We are currently in search of a Controller to join our team .

Reporting to the President and CEO / VP, the Controller is responsible for directing, administering, and coordinating the internal operational activities related to Finance and Accounting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management, Contract Administration, and other administrative functions within Points Athabasca. Ensures Company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:



Directs and coordinates Company financial planning and budget management functions.

Oversees daily operations of the finance and accounting functions.

Works with the Executive team to develop the business plan for the Company.

Prepares financial analysis for contract negotiations.

Performs financial modeling functions to support business decisions and acts as an advisor to senior management.

Directs financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.

Coordinates year-end accounting requirements (tax return preparation, audit).

Overseas operations in connection with financial matters including accounts receivable and payable, production, billing, collections, and auditing.

Oversees the compilation and generation of all Company financial records.

Provides accurate and timely financial forecasts.

Responsible for banking and cash management.

Administers employee group benefits and pension plan.

Prepares financial analysis

Review financial and operational performance and report to the President and CEO /V P.

Produce reports including reconciliations with funders and pension plan requirements, as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Executive management, as well as the Board of Directors.

Risk Management:



Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.

Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.

Develop internal policies and procedures that are in accordance with all legislation and industry best practices.

Monitor projects and operational plans against expected outcomes and address any variances.

Monitor and manage risk including regulatory and legislative changes impacting the Company.

Qualifications / Skills:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field with 7-10 years' experience, CPA designation is an asset.

Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and provincial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Ability to motivate team to produce quality materials with tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Construction Experience is an asset Excellent accounting software user and administration skills. Experience in working with ERP, Acumatica and Intacct is considered an asset Effective communicator. Trustworthy with high integrity. Someone who can be counted on to do the "right thing" and emulate organizational values.
